Lost 1 Stone (14lbs) in 3-4 weeks!!

14lbs down 🙂

So the first few weeks on keto has been awesome. Lost 14lbs, feeling great, enjoying my meals and ready to hit the next 14lbs. Although that’s not what happened after.

After 4.5 weeks on keto I have plateaued. My weight refused to shift even though my diet didn’t change. The diet has been quite enjoyable and not something I am willing to change so fast. The benefits still remain that I now eat less portions and am hardly hungry or have food cravings. I enjoy the fact that I don’t want to binge on crisps and chocolate or fast food and I am more in control of what I buy and eat so I know I won’t put the weight back on so easily.

Here’s a meal I cooked which was absolutely delicious :p

Chicken Korma and Cauliflower Rice

Going forward I am stripping back my meals to roast chicken thighs and green beans with avocado mayonnaise to see if not having my usual heavy whipping cream and cheese will make a difference. Also I think I am ready for some light exercise and will introduce 20 minutes a day workout a few times a week.

Over all I am pleased with my progress and hope the little changes I make will make a big difference.

Keto diary (Week 2+3)

What a topsy turvy week!

I moved out of my family home and into my sister’s house for a week until I found a place. Unfortunately I didn’t have my scales with me so could not weigh myself that week. I moved to my own place and of course packing and unpacking is a long process but finally arranged my room how I wanted for now. I’m trying to create a space of peace, tranquility, full of creative and positive energy. I am also creating a space for work, so my desk area has books, resources, laptop and light decor pieces.

With all this going on I thought it would be best to combine week 2+3 results in one.

HERE ARE THE RESULTS!!

I have lost another 6lbs so thats an average of 3lbs a week. Its not as much as I expected but due to moving, 60 hours + at work and not having much sleep its also better than it could have been. I have been using keto sticks and it shows that I am still in ketosis which is the most important thing to me.

I try to cook one new meal a week. I’m not a person that has ever cook consistantly so this has been a new process for me to plan and prepare all my meals in advance. Had a bar of chocolate on valentines day at work which was my first slip up on the plan but I had no energy that day and losing concentration fast. I decided to get some potassium supplements as a way to increase my energy and also stop some leg cramps I was feeling. Hopefully this shoud make me feel more vibrant and productive.

Over the 2 weeks I tried 2 beef dishes because I was really craving beef. I tend to cook one meal and portion it out over the week so that I am not cooking all the time.

The things I will try differently this week is intermittent fasting. Because my work shifts vary across the week my main times will be either eating between 9am – 5pm (3 meals a day) or 12pm-8pm (2 meals a day), which will alternate accordingly.

Wish me luck and weight loss! Lol 🙂

Keto Diary (Week 1)

Today I have been doing Keto just over a week. I started at 14 Stone 4lbs (200lbs) and my goal is to reach 10 stone 7lbs (147lbs) over all. Thats a target of 53lbs to lose over the course of a few months!

Excitedly I started on 30th January 2019 and had everything prepared. I brought the food I need to cook, printed keto receipes and prepped and cooked all my food for the week, storing them in containers in the freezer.

I have to say prepping and planning meals have helped a lot. I dont have to think to much about what I will eat for the day, I just grab and go most of the time. Bullet proof coffee tastes great and within 5 day felt lighter, more energized, and less tried.

The only negative effect I experienced was a little bit of insomnia for a few nights, waking up every couple of hours, but I always felt energised when it was time to get out of bed and get ready for work at 5am!!

RESULTS!!!

Wow 7lbs in 7 days! Absolutely chuffed 🙂 Thats a pound a day which is awesome.

I haven’t yet started to exercise but I have tried to do more walking and I tried out some yummy receipes. I haven’t had any cravings for sugar or carbs and my meals taste really good.

I am throughly enjoying my meals and have eaten the chocolate cake every day. I am trying out intermittant fasting but my main priority is to not snack inbetween meals and to eat 2-3 times a day.

How was your first week? How much did you lose?

Why I’m starting the keto “diet”

Ever looked back at a pic and thought “my God?”

This picture was taken on January 19th 2019 after losing 10lbs before Chirstmas and then piling on the pounds again after Christmas.

I hate people taking photos of me. Selfies I can control and take the right angle with the right lighting and only have to snap my face, but I hate being included in photos.

Believe it or not I struggled to find this pic scrolling through my phone. I honestly dont have any full length pics as I hate the way I look in photos.

My main reason for starting the ketogenic lifestyle, not “diet,” was because I wanted a permanent fix to my increasing weight gain every year. I had tried every diet under the sun, 600kcal per day shakes and diet bars, meal replacement plans, eating 6 small meals a day, eating a health diet, low carb plans, carb cycling, you name it, I tried it. It got to the point where I just gave up and just ate whatever I wanted, because I would lose 7lbs and be stuck.

When I heard about keto I was very much intrigued. I knew the meal replacement plan I tried a few time put your body in ketosis but I thought that was because of the huge calorie defecit. I was hungry all the time, i was grumpy and ittitable. I thought this might be the same sort of thing.

So whats the difference with the keto lifestyle?

Fat, fat and more fat. This is the secret ingredient that will hopefully change my life. All my life I grew up thinking butter, oil, bacon, cheese and chicken skin were no go foods. However I love them and I was pleasantly suprised to find out that these food are allowed and encouraged on keto! Never again will I feel guilty about smoothering something in butter, or eating heavy whipped cream. at the moment I don’t miss carbs or unhealthy snacks at all. I am no longer hungry and my focus is only about learning how to cook new keto receipes rather than infactuating about the carbs and sugar I can’t have.

Within 5 days my energy levels have gone from 0 to 10. I am motivated to walk more and move around and I no longer stay in bed way over the snooze button. I felt better about myself adn have already lost some weight. It’s a long way off from feeling heavy, sluggish, lazy and unmotivated.

I am hoping this will be the start of a lifestyle change for me. I have so far been doing Keto for a week and believe it is doable with preparation and focus. I will be updating my blog weekly and documenting my progress, tips, (if I find any) and as a way to keep myself accountable to my decision.
